MANSFIELD, Pa. - The No. 9 Mansfield field hockey team (9-5, 3-3 PSAC) defeated IUPÂ (7-5, 4-3 PSAC) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play, earning the Wednesday win with a 1-0 shutout over the Crimson Hawks. Â
For August Lewis, this completes her seventh shutout of the season, which now stands her atop the leaderboard for the single season record. Â
Blaise Cugini started red hot for the Mounties, seeing familiar faces on the field and did not let it phase her, sending home the first goal in the first two minutes. This goal kept the Mounties ahead for the rest of the afternoon to earn the important conference clash victory. Â
Hannah Meyer, Riley Kleinfelter, and Sophia Vadnais helped Lewis earn the first spot in the record after allowing no shots to hit the cage, with IUP only earning four shots on goal.Â
Mansfield had 16 shots on the day, including seven shots in the final quarter. The Mounties also placed 16 penalty corners on the afternoon.Â
Saramae Radel benefitted from many of these, blasting ten shots with many coming from the set pieces. Kenedy Stroup picked up three shots, one on goal, and Alex Esterling picked up two shots.Â
