No. 9 Mounties Host 2023 Senior Day in Top Ten Showdown

The Mansfield field hockey team hosted their Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.

MANSFIELD, Pa. - The No. 9 Mansfield Mountaineers field hockey team (9-6, 3-4 PSAC) dropped the Pennsylvania State Athletic (PSAC) matchup with No. 7 West Chester (9-6, 4-4 PSAC), as the Golden Rams claimed the 3-1 conference clash.

Before today's contest, head coach Brittany Hansrote '09 and the team honored their 2023 senior class:
Alexis Bell, Blaise Cugini, Kalin Duke, Alex Esterling, Grace Fraunfelter, Eilie Holland, Riley Kleinfelter, Hannah Meyer, Saramae Radel, and Kelsey Robertson.

Blaise Cugini sent home the first goal for the Mounties early in the game. The first quarter goal was assisted by Alex Esterling to take the 1-0 lead.

The Golden Rams tied up the contest in the second quarter to keep the conference contest deadlocked at halftime.

West Chester was awarded a questionable penalty shot, much to the fans' outrage and did not waste it to take the close lead heading into the final fifteen.

The nationally ranked opponent put in the insurance goal in the fourth quarter to silence the home crowd and leave with the 3-1 victory.

Along with Cugini, Ashtyn Price, Saramae Radel, and Hannah Meyer placed a shot on goal.

The Mounties earned four penalty corners while the Golden Rams picked up seven on the afternoon.
