SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The No. 7 Mansfield field hockey team (8-4, 2-2 PSAC) defeated Slippery Rock (2-10, 0-5 PSAC) on Tuesday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play, defeating the host, 5-1.Â
Alex Esterling erupted for three goals during the game, her first hat trick of the season and her third of her career. Â
Esterling put away the first three goals for the game, including her first two coming in the first seven minutes of the games. Ella du Plessis assisted the first goal of the game for the Mounties.
After the 2-0 lead at halftime, Esterling finished off her hat trick in the 35th minute off an assist from Saramae Radel. Â
Kenedy Stroup scored the last two goals for the Mounties. Her first goal came off a corner and a great assist from Hannah Meyer. The final goal went through in the final minutes through a pass from Ashtyn Price to finish off the 5-1 victory for Mansfield. Â
Esterling and Stroup each placed five shots on goal on the day. August Lewis picked up two saves on the afternoon to earn another victory. Â
