WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Mansfield University baseball team begins a three-game set with Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division foe West Chester University on Friday afternoon, March 18.
The Mounties will play a single nine-inning game at Serpico Stadium in West Chester, Pa. before hosting the Rams at Corning Community College on Sunday, March 20 for a noon doubleheader. The contest was moved to Corning C.C. turf baseball field due to unplayable conditions at MU's Shaute Field.
The Mounties (6-8 overall, 0-2 PSAC East) fell twice at Shepherd last weekend in PSAC East action. The third and final game of the series will be played in Corning next week and the date will be announced when it is made available.

LAST TIME OUT
The Mounties fell 3-1 in game one, before dropping the nightcap, 18-6 at Shepherd last Friday.
In game one, senior
Hunter DePrimo (1-2) was dominant on the mound, tossing six-complete innings and striking out a season-high 12 hitters, while limiting the Rams to two runs.
Five different Mountaineers picked up hits, while Lowengart drove in the lone Mountaineer run. Senior
Ben Osborne finished 2-for-3, while Shander and Freedman notched doubles.
In game two, Gustafson finished 1-for-3 with a walk and three-run home run , while Lowengart went 2-for-4 also adding a homer to power the Mountaineer offense. Freedman, Shander and Mengel (2-for-4) all scored and doubled. Freshman
Jacob Houtz also added a two bagger. Sophomores
Ian Wilbur and
Luke Payne combined for 2.1 scoreless innings in relief.

3/17/2014: Baseball Ranked 10th in NCBWA Atlantic Region Poll
DALLAS – Fresh off its eighth straight win on Sunday, the Mansfield baseball team moved into the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Atlantic Region poll at No. 10.
It marks the Mountaineer's first appearance in the NCBWA Atlantic Region rankings this season. Mansfield received votes in last week's edition of the poll.
Mansfield is 9-2 on the season with its only losses coming against Mercyhurst and natioanlly-ranked Wilmington. Mansfield has won its last eight games and scored 10 or more runs in its last five games. The eight-game win streak is the longest since the Mounties won 11 straight during the 2010 season.
NEXT UP
The Mounties begin a three-game PSAC East series with East Stroudsburg University beginning Friday, March 25 at 2 p.m. at Mansfield's Shaute Field. The Mounties then travel to ESU on Saturday for a noon doubleheader.
