ERIE, Pa. – The Mansfield University women's basketball team (1-5 overall) dropped a non-conference contest on the road at Gannon University, 87-41, on Wednesday night, Dec. 14.

Jasmine Hilton notched her fourth double-double of the season and her second in as many games, finishing with a team-high 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Alivia Paeglow added seven points and five rebounds, all coming on the offensive end.

A slow start doomed the Mounties, as Gannon jumped out to an early, 18-6, advantage after the first period.

Mansfield had their best shooting effort in the second quarter (44 percent; 8-of-18) to outscore the Golden Knights, 17-16. However, Gannon continued to shoot with efficiency while stifling MU on defense to take the third quarter, 25-11, before holding the Mounties to seven points, on just 20 percent (3-of-15) shooting, in the final period to seal the victory.

Gannon was red-hot from the field from start to finish, shooting a game-high 54 percent from the floor, knocking down 36-of-67 attempts. Gannon held the Mounties to just 17 makes on 65 attempts, while leading 31-17 in rebounding and 16-7 in steals.

For Gannon, Samantha Pirosko led all scorers with a game-high 24 points (11-of-14), adding seven rebounds and three assists.

The Mounties are back in action on Sunday, Dec. 18 when they visit Slippery Rock University for a PSAC East-West crossover contest beginning at 1 p.m.
