Mounties fall to Golden Bears

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield University women's soccer team (2-11-2, 0-11-2 PSAC East) fell to Kutztown University (8-3-3, 7-3-3 PSAC East), 4-0, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match on Saturday night, Oct. 15 at Karl Van Norman Field.

KU built a 2-0 lead in the first half, scoring in the 11th and 41st minute, with both goals coming off rebounded shot attempts. Isabella Rosetti and Allie Tierney scored for KU, thanks to a pair of helpers from Kayla Argen.

The Golden Bears matched that effort in the second half, scoring two more goals to round out the scoring. Argen had a foot in all four goals for KU, adding her third assist and a goal in the second half.

Junior Bailey Dockman (Waynesboro, Pa. / Saint Maria Goretti) and Danielle Drain (Denver, Pa. / Cocalico) each recorded a shot on goal for the Mounties.

Freshman goalkeeper Samantha Merklin (Effort, Pa. / Pleasant Valley) made a game-high nine saves.

Emme Wolfel earned the victory in net for the Golden Bears, making four saves.

The Mountaineers host Millersville University on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. at the MU Soccer Field.
