MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University field hockey and women's soccer teams play a pair of games this week, including the women's soccer home opener on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. at the MU Soccer Field.

Women's Soccer
Women's soccer will host their first opponent of the 2021 campaign on Wednesday when the Golden Rams of West Chester come to town. The game will be streamed on Mountie All Access and live stats will be provided at gomounties.com.
Field Hockey
Field hockey has a two-game road-stint, traveling to Mercyhurst University on Wednesday at 3 p.m. before heading to Kutztown University on Saturday, Sept. 11 for a 1 p.m. game. Neither game will be considered a conference showdown.
Sprint Football
The sprint football team is in their last week of preseason and will host a Red vs. Black intersquad game on Thursday night at Karl Van Norman Field. The game will be broken into segments and will go over different live situations. The sprint football team's media day, season preview and more will be featured on next week's schedule.
Cross Country
Cross country is in the middle of a two-week break from competitive action and will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 5 when they travel to Lock Haven University to compete in the LHU Invitational.
LAST TIME OUT
Field Hockey
The Mounties finished the weekend 2-0 after shutting out Saint Michael's College and Southern Connecticut State, 6-0 and 3-0, respectively.
Sophomore
Alex Esterling matched her goal total from all of 2019 with three on the weekend, sophomore Saramae scored twice and dished out an assist, while sophomore
Ashtyn Price also scored twice. Sophomores
Olivia Wagner and
Kalin Duke netted a goal each to round out the scoring.
The Mountaineer defense was impenetrable, accounting for two shutouts, while allowing just 15 shots in two games. Sophomore
August Lewis and junior
Hailey Boda combined for two clean sheets, with Boda earning both victories in cage.
Women's Soccer
The Mountaineers did not allow a goal in the second half and sophomore
Emily Smith scored in his first career game, but University at Pittsburgh Johnstown used three first half scores to secure a 3-1 victory at home.
The Mounties found life in the 82nd minute when freshman
Kerrah Clymer connected with Smith who found the back of the net for the first time in her career.
In net, Senior
Stephanie Moir fought off 19 shots and made six saves.
Cross Country
The men's and women's cross country teams hosted Bloomsburg University at Lamb's Creek Cross Country Course in a dual 5K meet on Thursday evening in their season opener.
The women kicked off the event and sophomore
Aneisa Dodson led the way for the Mounties finishing fourth in the 5K race with a time of 19:38. Junior
Carly Daniels finished behind her with an eighth-place finish, clocking in at 20:17. Sophomore

For the men, freshman David Wooten was the top Mountaineer, crossing the finish line with a time of 16:48. Fellow freshman

Evans Tabbed NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week
Evans posted five goals and a pair of assists to lead Mansfield to a 2-0 start to the season. The senior scored a pair of goals and added an assist in a 5-0 win over Saint Michael's before recording a hat trick and tallying another assist in a 7-1 win over Southern Connecticut State. It was the first hat trick for a Mountaineer since the 2013 season.
Cross Country | 9/11/10
Mansfield's Becky Kratz and Bud Plaszenski each took second at Hamilton Short Course in the cross country opener
Kratz, a sophomore, finished 18 seconds behind the top runner on the 4k course with a time of 15:13.3. Plaszenski, a junior, finished second to NCAA Division III National Champion Peter Kosgei of Hamilton College in the men's race.

Moir Makes 15 Saves in Setback at West Chester
Stephanie Moir made 15 saves in a road contest at powerhouse West Chester. It was her 2019 season high and the fourth most in her career.

Mansfield's First Night Football Game Since 1892 to be Streamed Live on ESPN 3
Mansfield University's historic night football game against Princeton on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 was streamed live on ESPN 3.
The game marked Mansfield's first home football game under the lights since inventing night football in 1892. Mansfield is recognized by both the NFL and College Football Halls of Fame as the birthplace of night football.

Women's Soccer
The Mounties are on the road on Saturday when they travel to nearby Bloomsburg University for a PSAC match. The contest begins at 2 p.m. at the Huskies' Steph Pettit Stadium.
Field Hockey
Field Hockey ends their road trip when they return to Mansfield on Wednesday, Sept. 15 to host Bloomsburg University at 4 p.m. on Karl Van Norman Field.
Sprint Football
The Mountaineers open their season by hosting rival Cornell at 7 p.m. under the Karl Van Norman Field lights.
Cross Country
After their meet in Lock Haven, the Mounties travel to Salisbury, Md. to battle in the Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday morning, Sept. 25.
