Roberts Wesleyan finished a perfect 15-of-15 at the free throw line while the Mounties only converted 6-of-10, while shooting 43 percent (24-of-56) from the floor compared to the Mounties' 28 percent (19-of-69). 10 of the Mounties field goals game from down town to allow MU to stay in the game, but the Redhawks shot over 50 percent from the floor and continued to dominate on the glass to close out the contest.
The Mounties first three baskets came from behind the arch and a three from Whitfield at the 9:46 mark in the second quarter cut the Redhawks' early lead to 15-9. However, Roberts Wesleyan countered with a 7-0 run to take their first double-digit lead of the contest.
The Mounties played at their best in the second quarter cutting the Redhawks' lead to as little as four multiple times. Reed and Whitfield drilled their second 3-pointers of the night and Hilton knocked down a jumper to trim the deficit to 22-18 with just under three minutes remaining in the period.
Trailing by seven out of the break, Reed drilled her third trifecta of the night to cut the deficit to 29-25, but that was a close as the Mounties could get as the Redhawks countered with a 17-11 run to regain a double-digit lead and never relinquished.
Four different Redhawks scored in double figures, led by a team-high 15 points from Taryn Wilson. Danielle DiCintio added a 13-point, 10 rebound double-double.
