Esterling Hat-Trick Ignites Mounties Road Victory

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Junior Alex Esterling achieved her first career hat trick to lead the Mansfield University field hockey team to a 6-0 victory on the road at Seton Hill University.

The Mounties (6-6, 2-3 PSAC) outshot the Griffins (1-10, 0-4 PSAC) 23-2 in the contest and Mansfield drew 22 corners. The three Esterling goals was her first career hat trick of her career and gives the junior nine goals in the season.

The Mountaineers had a strong first half with four goals. Esterling (2), Hannah Meyer and Kenedy Stroup each collected goals in the half.

Esterling's first goal came in the sixth minute to give Mansfield a 1-0 lead after the first quarter.

Meyer's goal and Esterling's second came on back-to-back penalty corners less than a minute apart.

Stroup picked up the final first half goal with three minutes remaining in the first half.

The Mounties added two more goals with Kelsey Robertson and Esterling's third goal in the fourth quarter.
