ALBANY, N.Y. - Sophomore
Aniesa Dodson continued her breakthrough season collecting a tenth-place finish to lead the Mansfield University men's and women's cross country teams at the R.K. Munsey Invitational at the University of Albany on Friday afternoon, Oct. 15.
Dodson finished the 5K in a time of 19:30.8 to lead the pack for the Mounties. Junior
Carly Daniels was the 37th to cross the line in 20:38.7. Freshmen
Angie Colon (21:52.0),
Carri Claypool (22:02.8) and junior
Shelby Alexander (22:17.9) and sophomore
Bailey Morgan (22.28.9) packed together finishing 52nd, 53
rd, 59th and 60
th, respectively. Sophomore
Anna Duncan finished her first meet of the season in 67th place, with a 5K time of 23:00.5.
For the men, freshman
David Wootten took the top Mountaineer spot in the 8K, finishing 31st with a time of 27:46.2. Sophomore
Abraham Calderon was the second Mountaineer finisher, placing 48th (29:26.3). Freshmen
Seth Neal and
Isaac Showers finished back-to-back in 58
th (29:50.3) and 59th (30:03.3), respectively. Senior
Ben Chambers (65th; 31:15.2), freshmen
Owen Showers (66th;31:23.9) and
Eli Swan (67th; 31.53.1), junior
Michael Grundon (70th; 32:39.9) and sophomore
Simon Richards (71st; 33:00.5) were the final Mountie finishers, packing within seven places of each other.
The women's team claimed seventh place and the men's team took 8
th.
The Mountaineers move into Championship season and will compete in the PSAC Championships at Kutztown University on Friday, Oct. 22.
