MANSFIELD – Senior
Trevor English registered his 17
th double-digit scoring effort to lead the Mansfield University men's basketball team, who fell to PSAC East foe East Stroudsburg University, 74-56 on Wednesday night, Feb. 19 inside Decker Gymnasium.
The Mounties (6-18, 5-14 PSAC) shot a cool 54 percent (14-of-26) from the floor in the first half, but East Stroudsburg (16-8, 12-7 PSAC) hit two more 3-pointers and four additional shots at the line to lead 40-34 out of the break. ESU exploded for a 13-3 run out of halftime to extend their lead to 53-37 with 11:50 to go.
The Warriors relentless full-court press finally took its toll on the Mounties, as ESU forced 18 turnovers on the game and held Mansfield to 31 percent (9-of-29) from the floor in the second half.
English scored 14 points, adding seven rebounds and a team-high six field goals. Freshman

Mike Rell dished out a game-high six assists.
In the first half, the Warriors opened the game with consecutive threes, but the Mounties responded with an 8-0 run to lead 8-6 heading into the first media timeout. The Mounties led 10-6 until a 5-0 Warriors' run gave ESU an 11-10 lead with 13:13 to go. The score was deadlocked two more times over the next three minutes until a 3-point play the hard way gave ESU a 17-14 lead. A triple by Cook knotted the game at 19, before ESU scored on the next possession.
ESU took their first real grip on the game over the ensuing three minutes, using a 7-0 run to take a 26-19 lead with 6:29 remaining. Rell netted a layup and dished out an assist on the next two Mansfield possessions to cut the deficit to two, but that is as close as the Mounties could get in the period. The Warriors led by as much as eight and carried a 6-point lead into the break.
The Mounties are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. when they host Kutztown University in PSAC East action inside Decker Gymnasium. The afternoon will serve as Senior Day, as the Mountaineers will recognize graduating seniors
