LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Mansfield University women's basketball team fell to PSAC East foe Lock Haven University, 76-47 on Wednesday night, Jan. 8 inside Thomas Fieldhouse.
The Mounties (3-11, 1-7 PSAC) were led by freshman
Jasmine Hilton, who just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Junior
Kira Merritt connected on 4-of-4 foul shots for six points and four rebounds and freshman
Jasmine Perez added six points and three assists. Freshman
Alivia Paeglow contributed six points, five rebounds and a steal with the second unit.
The Mounties suffered from a cold shooting night, connecting on 26 percent (17-of-64) compared to Lock Haven's 48 percent (28-of-58) on the night. Lock Haven (8-5, 5-3 PSAC) also connected on nine 3-pointers to Mansfield's two, while outscoring the Mounties 41-19 in bench points.
The Mounties continued to battle in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bald Eagles 13-10 with sophomore guard
Lily Soullaird registering her first minutes of the year and pulling in two rebounds.
Rileigh Devine scored a game-high 14 points on 4-of-5 shots from three off the bench for the Bald Eagles. Marena Lonardi added 11 points, six rebounds and two steals.
The Mounties are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. when they host West Chester University inside Decker Gymnasium.
