EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Mansfield University men's basketball team fell to East Stroudsburg University, 91-54 in PSAC East action on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 18.

Trevor English dropped 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and snatched two steals to lead the Mounties (4-12, 3-8 PSAC). Junior
Jonathan Ward added eight points and four rebounds and freshman
Richard Oppong netted seven points.

In the first half, ESU jumped out to an early 8-2 lead through the opening four minutes before the Mounties responded with six unanswered points to knot the game at eight with 13:28 to go. Mansfield remained within a score over the next two minutes, but the Warriors responded with a 10-0 run to extend their lead to 23-12 at the 9:45 mark. ESU broadened their lead to as much as 20 in the half, but Oppong and Simmons connected for the final four points to send the contest to the break with the Mounties trailing, 44-28.

ESU continued to apply pressure in the second half and never relinquished the double-digit lead.

The Warriors (9-7, 5-6 PSAC) scored 50 points in the paint and won the turnover battle 26-4 which led to 37 points en route to victory.

Troy Jones led three Warriors in double-figures with 19 points, while going 4-of-7 from behind the arch.

The Mounties are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. when they host PSAC foe Shepherd University in PSAC action inside Decker Gymnasium.
