MANSFIELD – Mansfield women's soccer will look to continue its upward trend in 2019 beginning with Sunday's home and season opener against Daemen (N.Y.).
Game time is set for 1 p.m. at the soccer field on campus.
Live streaming video presented by Visit Potter-Tioga is available on any computer or mobile device free of change at GoMounties.com/Watch. Fans can also watch the game through the PSAC Network app on Roku, Amazon FireTV, Android TV, and Apple TV. Live stats will also be available at GoMounties.com.
The Mounties saw a 60% increase in offensive production in 2018 from the previous year while the defense worked to achieve a 10% decrease in opponent scoring. A 2-1 win over California (Pa.) midway through the season last year snapped a lengthy losing streak that gave the program confidence to build for the future.
Mansfield welcomes back a strong group of veteran talent headlined by eight seniors in
Rachel Fox,
Cay McNichol,
Alexis Bittel,
Sierra Austin,
Jaiden DiPalma,
Breanna Murphy,
Eleni Gebbia, and
Chelsea Thomas. Eight of the Mounties' returners made starts in at least 12 games last season.
Bittel, Gebbia, and McNichol are the top returning point-getters from a year ago and will look to increase the offensive production for the second straight season. Fox is a former 1
st Team All-PSAC and 3
rd Team All-Atlantic Region selection who returns for her redshirt senior season.
Head Coach
John Shaffer, now in his second season guiding the Mounties, brought in a class of 11 freshman who will make the Mounties more competitive in 2019 while building a solid foundation of growth for the future.
Mansfield travels to West Chester on Wednesday before returning home to host defending PSAC Champion Bloomsburg on Saturday.
