CLARION, Pa. –
Lacey O'Donnell went 7-for-8 with nine RBIs on the day to lead Mansfield in a pair of PSAC Central wins at Clarion on Sunday afternoon.

The Mounties won both ends of the doubleheader in five innings, taking game one 15-4 before earning an 18-5 win in the nightcap.                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Â

The wins lock Mansfield (11-9, 5-3 PSAC Central) in a three-way tie for second place in the Central division along with Bloomsburg and Pitt-Johnstown. Lock Haven tops the Central by virtue of win pct. at 4-2.

Game 1
Deshae Jones opened the scoring in the top of the first, driving in a run with an RBI single to left field before sister
Devin Jones plated another with an RBI single through the left side.
Leah McGovern added another run with an RBI single up the middle to make it 3-0 Mounties. O'Donnell laced a bases-loaded triple to left field to bring in three more runs.
Joelle Snyder capped a seven-run first inning with an RBI double to center field.

Mansfield added four more runs in the second starting with an RBI single from
Leah McGovern and a
Devin Jones score on a wild pitch. O'Donnell cleared the bases again with a two-RBI double to give the Mounties an 11-0 advantage.

Clarion got one back in the bottom of the inning with an unearned run.

Mansfield added a run in both the third and fourth innings courtesy of a
Cassidy Smith sacrifice fly and a Snyder RBI single to the gap in right. The Golden Eagles scored another run in the bottom of the third.

Smith drove in another run in the top of the fifth with an RBI single to right field before O'Donnell plated her sixth runner of the game with an RBI single.

Clarion scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, but could not avoid the mercy rule and fell 15-4.

Arianna Young worked her fourth win of the season, going 5.0 innings with three strikeouts and one earned run. Kira Smith took the loss.

Seven Mounties had two or more hits in the game led by O'Donnell who went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Game 2
Both sides got hits in the first inning, but it would be in the second inning that the first runs came through.
Hannah Breitigan singled with one out and later scored on an error before
Deshae Jones drove in a run to give the Mounties a 2-0 lead.
Alex Hein added another run in the top of the third with a sacrifice fly.

The Mountie bats came alive in the top of the fourth with
Devin Jones and
Shaelyn Marx forcing in runs with bases-loaded walks before Hein struck a two-RBI single up the middle. Snyder brought in another run with an RBI single to center then O'Donnell came through once more with a two-RBI single to cap a 10-run inning.

Clarion got on the board with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame.

In the fifth inning, Rebecca Pizzo and
Devin Jones scored on wild pitches to kick start another big inning. Hein came through with another RBI single and Breitigan scored on an error. O'Donnell and
Deshae Jones brought in runs with RBIs before
Abbey Woodard hit her first career home run over the left field fence to score two more and give Mansfield an 18-2 lead.

Clarion scored three runs in the bottom of the inning but would fall victim to the mercy rule again.

Alexis Easling improved to 6-4 in the circle, pitching 4.0 innings with three hits and two earned runs allowed with three strikeouts.
Connor Decker pitched the final inning in relief.

Macy Rubin was hit with the loss.

O'Donnell went 4-for-4 at the dish with three RBIs and two runs scored to go along with a walk. Hein was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs while Woodard went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

The 18 runs scored are the most for the Mounties since plating 18 against Onondaga Community College last season. The 33 runs in the doubleheader are the most since the 2006 season when Mansfield combined to score 39 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Virginia Union.
