MANSFIELD – Mountaineer softball came up short in a PSAC Central doubleheader at Bloomsburg Saturday, dropping the opener 4-1 before falling 8-5 in the nightcap.

Game 1
Bloomsburg (22-13, 9-3) scored the first run of the game in the second and added another in the fourth to lead 2-0.
Joelle Snyder opened the top of the sixth in a double and advanced to third on an error before
Lacey O'Donnell drove in the run with a sac fly to cut the Huskie lead in half.

Bloomsburg doubled its score in the bottom of the inning, scoring two more runs on a pair of hits and three errors to lead 4-1.

Cassidy Smith led off the seventh with a single, but the Mounties were unable to rally.
Â
Abby Wild won her 13
th game of the season in a complete game effort with no earned runs and 10 strikeouts and a walk.
Arianna Young took the loss.

Game 2
Mansfield opened the scoring in the top of the first when Snyder got aboard with a lead-off walk then stole second. Smith put the Mounties ahead 1-0 with an RBI single into center to bring home Snyder.

The Mounties added another run in the third inning when
Deshae Jones drew a lead-off walk and moved over to third on a groundout and a wild pitch. Jones raced home on a passed ball to give Mansfield a 2-0 advantage.

The Mountaineers worked a shutout until Bloomsburg came up with a huge bottom of the sixth, scoring eight runs on five hits and three errors.

Facing a six-run deficit in the seventh,
Deshae Jones opened the frame with a single, later scoring on an error following a
Leah McGovern hit.
Lesley Fritz's single put runners on the corners with two outs to set up a
Hannah Swartz RBI single to center field to score
McKenna Russell. Another error allowed
Rebeca Pizzo to score, cutting the Bloomsburg lead to 8-5. However, the rally came up short.

Wild picked up the win in relief, pitching the final 4.2 innings.
Connor Decker took the loss in relief.

Starting pitcher
Alexis Easling went 5.1 innings with four hits and two earned runs in a no decision.

Mansfield is scheduled to travel to East Stroudsburg on Tuesday. The PSAC Central doubleheader at Lock Haven slated for Sunday has been postponed due to weather and a make-up date has not yet been determined.
