Track & Field Competes at Maroon & Gold Invitational

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Quincy Amabile hit a PSAC-qualifying mark in the 5K and five Mounties hit personal bests to highlight Mansfield track & field's evening at the Maroon & Gold Invitational on Saturday.

Amabile capped off the night by racing to a PSAC mark of 5:20.26 in the 5K to finish second overall. Amabile has hit conference-qualifying times in both the 5K and 10K events this season.

Lyndsey Payne hit a personal best in the women's 5K race, but came up just short of a conference mark in less than ideal weather conditions. Payne finished fourth in the event.

Ryan Morrisette ran his first career 3K steeplechase where he finished third with a time of 10:52.

Connor Kojola hit a personal best mark in the javelin throw early in the day with his best attempt of 40.13. The junior's top throw came on his fifth of sixth attempts to finish third in the event.

Zahir Madyun came through with a nice mark in the triple jump, leaping to a distance of 12.48 on his third attempt. The freshman took fourth in the event.

Mansfield ends the regular season at Lock Haven next weekend before hosting the PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 9-11.
