LEXINGTON, Va. – Ryan Clifford compiled a first-place finish and a new personal-best in the men's 5K to lead the way for the Mountaineers at day one of the Washington and Lee Carnival.
Freshman Lyndsey Payne got the day started for Mansfield with a new PR in the women's 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:55.27. It was a seven-second personal best for Payne who also hit a PSAC-mark with her time punching her ticket to the PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships which will be hosted by Mansfield in May.
Freshman Ryan Morrissette joined the new PR party when he raced his way to a 4:33.64 finish in the men's 1,500-meter run. Jordan Holmes was not to be outdone, as he compiled a 4:18.15 finish, finishing 12th in a field of 50 athletes. It was his third-best time in the event in his career at Mansfield.
Senior Kenzie Jones had a solid first outing of the outdoor season, finishing 7th in the women's 5K with a time of 19:20.38. It was her fourth-best career finish in the event on the outdoor circuit.
Ryan Clifford brought his dominance of the indoor circuit outside as he took part in the men's 5K. Clifford beat his previous personal best in the event by one second and hit a PSAC-mark by about 20 seconds with a time of 15:10.66. Clifford held an eight-second lead over the second-place finisher. It was the fifth-fastest 5K in Mansfield University Outdoor Track & Field history.
Mansfield will take part in day two of the Washington and Lee Carnival starting with the women's shot-put at 11:00 a.m. Live results will be provided by Blue Ridge Timing.
