ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshman Caden Fisher and senior Nicholas Auchenbach led the way for what was a strong day for Mansfield track & Field at the Marc Deneault Invitational hosted by Cornell University.
Fisher got the day started for the Mountaineers with a pair of strong performances in the men's 60-meter hurdles. In the first heat, Fisher compiled a time of 8.91 seconds before finishing at 8.83 seconds in the finals. That time was good enough for a new PR and a PSAC mark.
David Butler competed in the 60-meter dash and sprinted his way to a new PR at 7.77 seconds. It was Butler's first event of the indoor season.
Auchenbach had history on his mind heading into the men's 300-meter dash, finishing third in a field of 13 athletes. Setting a new PR 36.35 seconds, Nicholas passed his own mark of 36.45 seconds set back in 2016 for the second-fastest indoor 300-meter dash run in program history.
Freshman Ryan Morrissette got in on the action, setting a new PR of his own in the men's 1,000-meter run at 2:49.06.
Purity Moenga tied her best throw of the indoor season at 9.51 meters in the women's shot put.
When all was said and done, the Mounties saw four new personal bests set on the day, including a PSAC mark from Fisher.
Mansfield returns to action when qualifying Mountaineers will travel to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Edinboro.
