Mountaineers T&F Completes Successful Weekend At BU

BOSTON – Following the successful performances of Kenzie Jones and Jenny Bellefleur who both reached PSAC marks on Friday in the women's races, Ryan Clifford and Quincy Amabile both shattered their personal best times in the Men's 5K races at Boston University on Saturday evening, helping the Mountaineers to complete a tremendously successful weekend at the David Hemery Valentine Invite.

In the third heat of the 5K, Clifford was the first Mountie to compete on Saturday.  In a field of over 120 runners, the senior was in the Top 50 with a personal best time of 14:58.46, which ranks third All-Time at Mansfield. His previous best was 15:11.07 which he ran last month at Kerr-Pegula Athletic Complex during the Houghton Invitational. The current All-Time record at Mansfield is held by Chris Cummings with his time of 14:55.44 in 2006.

Amabile followed Clifford's race with a remarkable performance in which he obliterated his previous best mark by over 50 seconds. In 2017, the junior ran a 16:20.0 5K at the Flatlander Invite. In Boston on Saturday, Amabile's time clocked in at 15:09.53.

As of this weekend, Clifford and Amabile now have the top two times in the conference.

Next up is the Marc Deneault Invitational at Cornell on Saturday, February 16th. Following that event, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships will be held in Edinboro from February 23rd to February 24th.
