ITHACA, N.Y. – The Mansfield University track & field team put together another dominant performance with seven top-10 finishes at the Robert Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell University Saturday afternoon.
The Mountaineers were led by senior's Ryan Clifford who set a new PR and hit a PSAC-mark in the men's mile with a time of 4:27.56 and Nicholas Auchenbach who finished second in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 51.17. Clifford also hit a new PR in the men's 800-meter run at 2:06.91.
The Mounties continued their success on the back of an outstanding performance by senior Kenzie Jones in the women's 3,000-meter run. Jones finished fourth with a time of 10:30.48, hitting a PSAC-mark. Junior Travis Keefe was not to be outdone in the men's 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:44.59 setting a new PR.
Sophomore Quincy Amabile joined the new PR party, when he finished at 2:03.32 in the men's 800-meter dash. Freshman Mamadou Diallo followed Amabile with a new PR in the men's 400-meter dash at 53.35.
Freshman Hailey Weidhammer smashed her previous PR in the women's 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:28.43, beating her previous time by over four seconds. Senior Jordan Holmes and freshman Aaron Coleman set a new PRs in the men's 1,000-meter run with a times of 2:46.48 and 2:58.75 respectively.
Freshman Vince McNeil continued the Mountaineer's success on the day with a new PR of his own in the men's 200-meter run at 26.46.
Several Mounties continued their climb up the PSAC leaderboard. Auchenbach's time in the 400-meter dash ranks fourth among all athletes in the PSAC and Ryan Clifford maintained his top spot in the men's mile among PSAC qualifiers when action ended at the Kane Invitational. Kenzie Jones set herself among the top-PSAC qualifiers in the women's 3,000-meter ranking 2nd with a time of 10:25.12.
When all was said and done, Mansfield compiled a combined nine new PR's on the day along with Clifford's PSAC-mark in the men's mile.
