CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Mansfield women's soccer team will be taking on the California University of Pennsylvania at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility on Saturday, September 29
th with a noon kickoff time slated.
Â
The Mounties will enter the match fresh off of a tight battle with #25 Millersville which saw Mansfield take a 1-0 lead all the way into the 60
th minute of play. The Marauders were able to escape with a 2-1 win on a couple of late goals, including the game-winner which came with just five minutes left in the game, thus turning away Mansfield's bid for an improbable upset.
Bria Bittiger scored her second goal of the season with
Stephanie Moir back in net for the first time in a week providing 17 saves. Freshman
Meghan Noone showed versatility as she could be seen all over the field playing a variety of roles. She distributed some nice passes and played some stellar defense down the sidelines.Â
Â
The California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans were on a seven game losing streak before they clashed Indiana University of Pennsylvania to a double-overtime 1-1 draw on Wednesday.
Â
Mansfield edges the Vulcans in shots, saves, and save percentage on the season. The Mounties are coming off of two of their finest performances of the season in hopes of their first win of the season.
Â
The Mountaineers will then travel to IUP next weekend for another PSAC matchup scheduled for 1:30 p.m on Saturday, October 6th.Â
