MANSFIELD – Mansfield dropped both ends of a PSAC East doubleheader to No. 22 West Chester Friday afternoon at Shaute Field.

Defending National Champion West Chester (29-13, 18-8 PSAC East) took the opener 21-4 before completing the doubleheader sweep with a 17-5 win in game two.

The Golden Rams hung 10 runs in the top of the first in game one, then added two more in the second. Mansfield (9-31, 3-22 PSAC East) got on the board in the bottom of the second when
Zach Merkle drove in a pair of runs followed by an Own Lukens sacrifice fly.

West Chester plated another run in the fifth, but the Mountaineers answered with
Brady Mengel's solo shot in the bottom of the frame.

The Rams added eight more runs in the seventh.

Jon Fisher earned the win on the mound for West Chester going 5.0 innings.
Â
In game two, West Chester scored nine runs over the first three innings.

J.P. Bonanca drove in Lukens in the bottom of the first then in the third, Lukens drilled a two-run homer followed by
Tyler Guidos' solo shot to cut the lead to 9-4.

The Rams scored six more runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Guidos brought in
Carlos Espinosa with a single to the gap in the seventh to cap the scoring.

Zach Rice earned the win on the mound for West Chester.

Due to rain affecting Southern Pennsylvania, Sunday's regularly scheduled games at West Chester have been moved to Saturday at Shaute Field. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1:30 p.m.
