CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Mansfield University's
Hunter Watkins finished 14
th overall in the javelin at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Johnson C. Smith University Saturday morning.

Watkins registered a distance of 58.19 meters on his first throw before fouling his second attempt. The sophomore bettered his distance on his third and final throw with a mark of 59.81 meters. It was the fifth best distance in flight one.

It marks back-to-back appearances at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the sophomore. Watkins was one of two student-athletes to compete at the 2018 outdoor championships along with
Charlsie Bowen in the pole vault.

Watkins was the PSAC javelin champion earlier this season with a school record throw of 64.61 meters.
