MANSFIELD – Despite a strong first half by Mansfield, the Mounties were unable keep up with LeMoyne and fell to the Dolphins 80-66 in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium.
The game remained close throughout the first half, with
Erin Gibbons and
Paige Whitfield leading in points with 13 and 11, respectively. In the first half, Gibbons went 3-5 on her three point shots, while Whitfield was able to shoot a perfect 3-3. Mansfield held an eight-point margin over visiting LeMoyne twice throughout the second quarter.
However, the Dolphins were able to battle back and tie the game 41-41 at the half. Despite a promising start to the third quarter by Mansfield, LeMoyne outscored the Mounties 26 to 13 in the period to pull away.
Erin Gibbons led Mansfield with 13 points and four rebounds.
Noelle Cameron tallied 12 points with four rebounds and
Kira Merritt added 10 points.
McKayla Roberts scored a game-high 19 points for the Dolphins.'
Mansfield shot 47.3% from beyond the arch.
The women travel to Clarion on Saturday to take on the Golden Eagles at 1 p.m.
