SHIPPENSBURG –
Katie Jamison and
Abbie Predmore each notched goals to lead Mansfield past Southern Connecticut State 2-0 in the season opener at the Ship Field Hockey Classic.

Jamison put the Mounties on the board with a goal off a rebounded shot in the 26
th minute. It was the second career goal for the sophomore.

SCSU put just three shots on frame in the first half, but Mansfield keeper
Brittany Ryan kept the Owls scoreless.

In the second half, Predmore doubled the Mountaineer lead in the 52
nd minute by placing a
Larissa Motts pass in the top left corner of goal from five yards out. The goal was the second of her career for Predmore as well.

Mansfield dominated offensively, recording 20 shots with 13 on goal and forcing 10 penalty corners. The Mountaineer defense limited the Owls to just 10 shots including only three in the second half.

Ryan made five saves in goal to earn her first career win and clean sheet. It marked the first shutout for Mansfield since blanking Saint Michael's 3-0 on Sept. 8, 2013.

It was also the first season-opening victory for Mansfield since 2013.
