Mounties Fall Twice To East Stroudsburg in Season Finale

MANSFIELD – Mansfield fell twice to East Stroudsburg (26-19-1, 15-12-1 PSAC East) as the Warriors completed the four game sweep, 8-2 in game one and 7-4 in the nightcap.

East Stroudsburg got the scoring started early when a run scored on a groundout in the top of the first. The scoring continued with the Warriors tacking on another run in the third and three more in both the fourth and fifth innings.

The Mountaineers (20-30, 8-20 PSAC East) would get on the board in the bottom of the third on back-to-back RBI singles by seniors Scott Rockwell and Ryan Paige.

That would however, be all the scoring for the Mounties, as ESU starter Ian Allen would go the distance allowing six hits and two runs with six strikeouts.

Tyler Guidos would fall to 4-3 on the season going three innings allowing five runs, four earned, with three strikeouts for Mansfield.

The Mountie bats came alive in game two with Sophomore Colby Schearer hitting his first collegiate home run in the fifth inning. Mansfield Senior Taylor Hillson also went two for three with a pair of singles in game two.

This was not enough however as the Warriors would put up two runs in the first, fourth, and sixth innings to put the Mounties away and clinch a spot in the PSAC East playoffs.
