INDIANA – Mansfield hung eight runs in the sixth inning of game one to rally past IUP 8-1 in a PSAC Central split at IUP on Friday.

IUP (13-14, 5-5 PSAC Central) scored a pair of late runs in game two to salvage the split.

In the opener, IUP scored an unearned run in the second inning to go ahead early.

Neither offense could get much going with no runs scored over the next three innings.

Alli McGovern led-off the top of the sixth for Mansfield (18-9, 6-4 PSAC Central) with a triple and was scored by
Koryn Wickwire.
Laura Lawson followed with another triple to plate the go-ahead run.
Taylor Chidester drove in a run with a single up the middle before McGovern got aboard with a two-RBI single. Wickwire capped the eight-run rally with a two RBI-double in the gap to put the Mounties ahead 8-1.

The Crimson Hawks had no answer as starting pitcher Ari Young tossed her 12
th complete game and improved to 11-4 on the season. Young scattered seven hits with no earned runs and a pair of strikeouts.

Young is now tied for eighth in program history in season wins with 11.

IUP took the lead first again in game two, scoring a pair of runs in the second.

The Mountaineers got one back in the top of third with Wickwire's sacrifice fly to score
Hannah Breitigan.

In the top of the fifth, McGovern tied the game at 2-2 with an infield single to bring home
Devin Jones.

IUP scored the go-ahead runs in the fifth to take a 4-2 advantage.
