MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Mounties take two from Lycoming in a wild day at the Myrtle Beach Spring Classic.

After three scoreless innings, Mansfield pushed the first run across in the bottom of the fourth when Lawson, who singled and advanced to second on a sac bunt, was drove in on a
Melanie Taylor RBI hit to center field.
Â
Taylor drove in another run in the sixth to give Mansfield a 2-0 advantage with her double in the gap to score
Taylor Chidester.
Â
Lycoming cut the lead in half with an unearned run in the top of the seventh and put runners on second and third with two outs, but starting pitcher
Arianna Young closed the door on the Warriors.

Young scattered eight hits and struck out four with no walks and no earned runs to earn her sixth win of the season. It was the sophomore's fifth complete game effort of the year.

In game two,
Alli McGovern opened the top of the first with a single and later scored on a passed ball. The Mountaineers loaded the bases then
Laura Lawson scored on another passed ball to give the Mounties a 2-0 lead.

Lycoming came back in the bottom of the frame, scoring four unearned runs to lead 4-2.

Rachael Sterner led-off the third with a walk and moved over on a sac bunt before
Casey Pearce drove in a run to cut the Lycoming lead to one run.

In the fourth, Sterner knotted the game at 4-4 with a single into center field to score
Deshae Jones. A two-out error allowed Wickwire to cross home before Leslie Fritz's single drove in Taylor and Sterner to give Mansfield a 7-4 advantage.

More errors and three hits allowed for Lycoming to take the lead in the bottom half of the inning at 10-7.

The comeback ensued in the top of the fifth with the big blows coming off of the bat of
Rachael Sterner with an RBI single and a RBI double from
Koryn Wickwire to give the Mounties a 11-10 lead.

Melanie Tayor and
Lesley Fritz both added RBI singles in the top of the seventh to push the Mountie lead to 13-10. Lycoming pushed across a run in the bottom half but their comeback bid came up short as the Mounties held on to win a wild one 13-11.

Improving to 3-2 for the Myrtle Beach Spring Classic and 8-5 overall, the Mounties are back in action tomorrow at 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM when they take on Mount St. Vincent and Gettysburg College.
