WEST CHESTER –
Malik Carter scored a game-high 20 points, but it wouldn't be enough as West Chester dominated the second half in posting a 94-66 win over Mansfield in a PSAC East contest Saturday afternoon.
Mansfield tied the score at 31-31 on a layup and ensuing free throw by Carter with just under six minutes remaining in the first half but West Chester countered with a 13-5 run to take a 44-36 advantage into halftime.
West Chester extended the lead to 57-42 five minutes into the second half and Mansfield would not be able to close the gap to less than 10 points for the remainder of the game.
West Chester shot 60% from the floor to Mansfield's 40% and outrebounded the Mountaineers 35-28.
In addition to Carter,
Jahyde Gardiner scored 14 points and
Cedrick Powell 11.
Jackson Hyland topped five Golden Rams in double-figures with 19 points while also adding 10 rebounds.
Mansfield hosts Millersville on Wednesday.
