MANSFIELD –
Bella Ricci and
Alyssa Mullins each scored career-highs, but Kutztown rallied from a 25-point deficit to stun Mansfield Saturday afternoon in PSAC East play at First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium.

Mansfield (3-12, 1-10 PSAC) got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 10-1 lead through the first five minutes of play. Kutztown (6-13, 3-8 PSAC) brought its deficit down to three points, but the Mountaineers closed out the final two minutes of the first quarter on an 8-2 run to lead 18-9.

Ricci opened the second quarter with a 3-pointer as Mansfield continued to roll on both ends of the court. The Mounties outscored their opponent 20-11 in the quarter to take a 38-20 lead into halftime. Mansfield shot 51.9% (14-27) from the floor in the first half and forced 10 turnovers. No Kutztown player had more than four points at halftime.

The second half opened with
Mary Kate Rumbaugh splashing a trey and
Brielle Kelly scoring a lay-up. Ricci's fourth trifecta gave Mansfield its biggest lead of the game at 25 points with a score of 54-29 with just under four minutes to play. The Golden Bears used an 11-0 run to bring their deficit down to 54-38 at the end of the third quarter.

An 11-2 run by Kutztown to open the fourth quarter brought Mansfield's lead down to single digits for the first time since the first quarter. The Mountaineers held a 68-57 lead with 3:05 to play in the game, but Kutztown scored 12 unanswered points capped by Sierra Taylor's go-ahead 3-pointer with 45 seconds to play. Mansfield had two opportunities to win the game in the final seconds but the shots did not fall.

Ricci went 6-7 from the floor including a perfect 4-4 from 3-point to score a game-high 19 points. Mullins recorded her second career double-double with a career-best 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Kelly added 16 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Taylor Thames scored all of her game-high 16 points in the second half. Taylor added 13 points and Jenna Altomare 12 points.

Mansfield continues its three-game home stand on Wednesday when it hosts Lock Haven.
