Finding a Hat That Fits -- Meadows Goes Hat-trick in Win over UPJ

MANSFIELD -- Delaney Meadows recorded a hat-trick and Rachael Fox registered a shutout to lead Mansfield to a 3-0 win over Pitt-Johnstown in a PSAC matchup Saturday afternoon at Karl Van Norman Field.

The win came in front of a large group of women's soccer alums who returned to campus to celebrate the program's 15th season.

Meadows, who set a school record with 12 goals as a freshman last season, broke a frustrating early season scoring drought with her first three goals of the year.

Meadows scored her first goal in the 14th minute when she put a ball on goal that the goalkeeper deflected back to her with Meadows putting the rebound over the keeper's head.

Meadows struck again in the 40th minute, when the goalkeeper came out a challenged Meadows who scooped up the ball and put it into the right hand side of the net giving Mansfield a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Meadows recorded her third career hat-trick with just under five minute remaining in the game. Ashley Dietz crossed the ball from the right six of the box and Meadows settled the ball before beating the keeper to the left.

Mansfield had 23 shots to Pitt-Johnstown's 7.

Rachel Fox recorded her third career shut with four saves.

It was Meadows third career hat-trick and the sophomore's 15th career goal. She is the first person in school history to record three hat-tricks in her career.

Mansfield travels to West Chester on Wednesday.
