CLEARWATER, Fla. – Mansfield rallied to tie the game twice, but a pair of late runs lifted Cedarville to a 6-4 win Friday morning at Jack Russell Stadium.
 
The Yellow Jackets put up three runs in the second inning on four hits and an error.
 
In the top of the fourth, back-to-back walks by Scott Rockwell and Zephan Kash set up Ryan Paige's RBI single to cut the Cedarville (3-3) lead to 3-1.
 
Tanner Klein led-off the top of the sixth with a double down the left field line and Owen Lukens singled up the middle to put runners on the corners. Wes Custer's RBI single to right scored Klein and put Lukens at third. Jerry Chavarria plated Lukens with a sacrifice fly to right to tie the game at 3-3.
 
Cedarville produced a run in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead at 4-3.
 
Facing two outs and a runner on third in the eighth, Taylor Hillson came through with a game-tying RBI single to centerfield. The Mountaineers loaded the bases but were unable to push across the go-ahead run.
 
The Jackets plated two runs in the bottom of the inning on a pair of hits and an error to lead 6-4. Mansfield was unable to rally for a third time in the top of the ninth.
 
Jordan Adams earned the win in relief after pitching 1.1 hitless innings. Matt Zielen took the loss.
 
Starting pitcher Tommy Alexander went 6.0 innings allowing eight hits, one walk and one earned run while striking out five batters.
 
Cedarville totaled 11 hits in the game with Mansfield recording 10.
 
Mansfield concludes its Florida trip Saturday morning with a single game against Upper Iowa at Frank Tack Field in Clearwater.
