Mounties End Season with 93-74 Win at Cheyney

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties End Season with 93-74 Win at Cheyney

MANSFIELD – Mary Kate Rumbaugh led four Mounties in double-figure scoring as Mansfield exploded for a season-high in points in a 93-74 win at Cheyney in the season finale Wednesday night.

Rumbaugh was red hot from the field connecting on 8-of-11 shots, including 2-2 from 3-point, to score a team-high 21 points. Becky Evans and Katie Fitzpatrick also lit it up for 20 points each. Evans scorched the Wolves from downtown hitting a career-high six 3-pointers, with five coming in the second half alone.

Fitzpatrick recorded nine assists and eight rebounds to go along with her 20 points coming up just shy of another triple-double. The senior moved past Donna Kukura for fourth on the MU all-time scoring list and ends her career with 1,301 career points. One of the top all-around players in program history, she also ranks fourth on the Mansfield career assists list (308), fourth in steals (243) and ninth in rebounding (653).

Brielle Kelly recorded her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jessica Crawley added eight points.

Kyra Hines-Allen led three Wolves in double-figure scoring with a game-high 22 points.

The Mountaineers hit a season-high 52.5% from the floor in the game while holding Cheyney to 39.7% shooting. Mansfield's 93 points was the most since racking up 106 points in a win over Central Penn on Nov. 15, 2014.

Mansfield also held a 45-35 rebounding advantage in the game.

Cheyney led early before the Mountaineers took over the lead and never looked back. Mansfield led by as many seven points before ending the first quarter with a 25-21 lead.

Mansfield built up a 10-point lead through the first half of the second quarter, but the Wolves used a 9-1 run to close within two points. The Mounties took a 46-37 lead into the break.

Mansfield jumped out to a 20-point advantage through the first five minutes of the second half and maintained a big lead for the rest of the game.

Mansfield's seven overall and four conference wins is the most since the 2011-12 season.
