Heartbreak Again -- Lentz Records 8th Career Goal but Mansfield Fall in 2OT

MILLERSVILLE – Danielle Lentz scored her eighth career goal to tie the game but Millersville scored in the second overtime to pull out a 2-1 Tuesday evening.

It marked the second game in a row, and a school-record sixth time, Mansfield has gone into overtime this season. Four of the Mountaineers last seven games have been decided after the end of regulation.

After a scoreless first half, Millersville got on the board first on a goal off a free kick by Stacie Hallinan in the 51st minute.

Mansfield tied it 16 minutes later when Lentz ran down a loose ball and put it into the lower part of the net for the tying goal.

Both team had chances before the end of regulation with Mansfield getting off five shots in the final 10 minutes including shots on goal by Chelsea Hough and Lentz.

Mansfield had the only shot of the first overtime when Delaney Meadows had a breakaway shot early in the period that was stopped by Millersville goalie Samantha Wolfe.

In the second overtime, Mansfield's Sierra Austin got off a shot on goal in the 102 minute that was denied. Millersville then got a through ball from Emily Kaufmann to Kay Liebl who slide the ball inside the far post for game-winner.

Mansfield goalie Rachel Fox had 11 saves with Meadows putting three shots on goal and Lentz two. Wolfe had seven saves for Millersville.

Lentz moves into eighth place on the all-time goals list.

Mansfield closes out the 2016 season at Edinboro on Saturday.
