Meadows Mows Down Clarion -- Sophomore Moves Into Tie for Second Place on School All-Time Goals List
CLARION –
Delaney Meadows scored two goals and freshman
Eleni Gebbia added her first collegiate goal to lead Mansfield to a 3-0 win over Clarion in a PSAC women's soccer contest Saturday night at Clarion.
Meadows put the Mountaineers up 1-0 in the 11th minute of the game off an assist by
Caitlyn McNichol and added her second goal eight minutes later on an unassisted goal.
Mansfield held a 2-0 lead at halftime and upped its lead to 3-0 when
Eleni Gebbia scored on an unassisted goal in the 56th minute.
Sophomore
Rachel Fox posted the sixth shutout in her young career turning away six shots on goal.
Mansfield had one of its best offensive performances of the season with 26 shots including 13 on goal.
With her two goals Meadows, a sophomore, moves into a tie for second place tie with Colleen Cochran (2004-07) with 17 goals in her career.
The victory marks Mansfield third win in the last four meeting against Clarion.
Mansfield starts a four-game home stand when the Mountaineers host Bloomsburg Wednesday evening starting at 7 p.m. at Karl Van Norman Field.
