Mountie Men Fall at KutztownKUTZTOWN –
Brad Williams topped four Mountaineers in double-figures with 18 points but Mansfield could never overcome a 30-5 run over the last 10 minutes of the first half in dropping a 103-75 decision at second-place Kutztown in a PSAC East matchup Wednesday evening.
Mansfield started off on fire, scoring the game's first two points on a layup by Williams while shooting 72% from the floor over the first eight minutes of the game.
The Mountaineers trailed 26-21 after a layup by
Ian Vasquez midway through the first half but would manage to make just two more field goals before intermission to trail 56-26 at the half.
Mansfield managed to outscore Kutztown 49-47 in the second half.
Mansfield made more field goals than Kutztown (30-28) but the Golden Bears went to the free throw line 44 times making 35 attempts to the Mountaineers 7-of-9 from the line.
Williams scored a season-high 18 points including hitting three 3's with
Thomas Moore adding 15 points, all of them coming in the second half. Vasquez scored 13 points with
Matt Tamanosky chipping in with 11 points.
Howard Sellars come off the bench to top five Golden Bears in double-figures with a game-high 25 points. Anthony Lee added 16 points.
Mansfield travels to Millersville Saturday.
