FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: West Chester Too Much for Mounties

MANSFIELD – Mary Kate Rumbaugh paced three Mounties in double-figure scoring, but West Chester proved to be too much as Mansfield dropped a 78-53 PSAC East contest Saturday afternoon at First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium.

Rumbaugh scored 13 of her team-high 15 points in the second half, going 7-10 from the floor in the game. Katie Fitzpatrick added 12 points while Brielle Kelly scored 11. Fitzpatrick, Kelly and Princella McCullough each collected a team-best eight rebounds.

With 1,141 career points, Fitzpatrick is now just 26 away from passing Kathy Murphy (1992-95) for seventh on the list all-time.

Anna Kuntz had a big game for West Chester, recording a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Brittany Sicinksi also netted 21 points for the Lady Rams.

West Chester scored the first seven points of the game, but the Mounties worked the lead down and used an 8-1 run to take over the lead at 14-13 with 39 seconds remaining in the first quarter. The Rams ended the first period leading 18-14.

In the second quarter, West Chester went on a 12-0 run to lead by 11 points. Mansfield managed to keep its deficit in single digits for the remainder of the quarter and trailed 33-24 at halftime.

The Rams continued to roll in the second half, outscoring Mansfield 25-14 in the third and 20-15 in the fourth to secure the win.
