Mounties Drop Home Opener to MercyhurstMANSFIELD – Senior
Brianna Hathaway scored her first goal of the season early in the first half, but it won't be enough as Mansfield dropped a 6-1 decision to Mercyhurst Tuesday afternoon in the Mountaineers home opener of the season.

Courtney Wilson tied the score at 1-1 and came just 50 seconds after Mercyhurst scored the game's first goal in the 11
th minute.
Mansfield shut the Lakers down for the next ten minutes but the Mountaineers had no answer for Mercyhurst's Jessica Brandon who recorded a hat-trick on the way to a 4-1 lead at intermission.
Junior
Laura Lawson, who ranks among the nation's saves leaders, had another strong effort stopping 11 shots on the afternoon.
Mercyhurst held a 17-6 advantage in shots on goal with Sam Takac recording five saves.
The game marked the beginning of a five-game home stand for the Mountaineers who host Millersville this Saturday in a 6 p.m.
