FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Early Leads Slip Away in Losses at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG – Mansfield led early in both games, but it was Shippensburg who came out on top in a PSAC East doubleheader Monday afternoon at Fairchild Field. The Raiders took game one 15-1 and held off Mansfield in an 8-4 game two loss.

Dave Glueck went 4-for-6 with two runs and an RBI to lead Mansfield at the plate.

In the opener, Mansfield was first on the board in the top of the second inning when Glueck drove in
Zephan Kash with an RBI single to right centerfield. Kash reached with a two-out single to center.
Â
The Mountaineer lead held until the bottom of the third when Shippensburg hung five runs on six hits.
Luke Hils came on to pitch with bases loaded and one out, but retired the next two batters to end the inning.

The Raiders added a run in the fourth and fifth innings before pounding out eight runs on five hits and an error in the bottom of the sixth to jump out to a 15-1 lead.

Mark Curtis was the game one winner on the mound, pitching a complete game with six hits allowed, one earned run and seven strikeouts. Mansfield starter
Dan Harms took the loss.

In game two, the Mountaineers once again took an early lead when
Jacob Molison lined a one-out double to center before
Ryan Paige's RBI single up the middle pushed a run across.

The lead was short lived as Shippensburg answered with four runs on five hits and an error in the bottom of the inning before Cody Ezolt's solo homer in the third gave the Raiders a 5-1 advantage.

Mansfield cut the deficit to 5-2 in the top of the fifth with an unearned run scored by Glueck following a fielding error by the shortstop. Glueck reached on a single through the right side earlier in the inning.

Shippensburg extended its lead with two more runs in the fifth.

In their final at bats, Glueck reached with a two-out single then scored on an Eric harms double to left center. A
Taylor Hillson RBI single brought home Harms to cut the Raider's lead to four runs, but the Mounties were unable to rally for the win.

Gabe Mosser went the distance for Ship with three earned runs on seven hits.
Matt Engler took the loss.

Mansfield is scheduled to travel to Kutztown for another PSAC East doubleheader on Friday.
