FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Make a Splash at Geneseo Invitational
GENESEO, N.Y. -
Amanda Ernst led the way for Mansfield in the last regular season meet at the six-team Geneseo Invitational on Saturday.
Ernst placed second in the 100 backstroke with a 1:07.65 finish. The freshman edged Geneseo's Jenna Gibbons by .13 seconds.
Abigail Zdancewicz added points for the Mounties in the 100 backstroke with a 1:13.80 finish.
In the 50 freestyle, freshman
Candace Brown turned in a sixth place finish with a 26.27, edging Geneseo's Kristen Bormann by .13 seconds. Finishing closely behind Brown in tenth place was
Alexis Cable with a 26.42 finish. The freshman broke into the top ten by edging Oswego State's Sabia Filiaci by .06 seconds. Junior
Hilary Feudale provided addition points with a 26.97 finish.
Samantha Masher swam to a new PR with a 33.96 finish.
The trio of Brown, Cable and Feudale went on take points in the 100 freestyle. Feudale led the way with a seventh place PR finish with a 58.66. Cable and Brown had a neck-and-neck finish with 1:01.13 and 1:01.60 times respectably.
Sophomore
Connie Medura broke into the top five of the 200 breaststroke with a 2:42.71 fifth place finish.
Marissa Gilbert swam to a new PR with a 3:36.37. The freshman would go on to garner points in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:41.66.
Kelly Raleigh provided addition points for the Mountie total in the 100 butterfly with a 1:14.68 finish.
Lauren Dorosh competed in her last meet for Mansfield after four years of unwavering commitment. The senior added points for the Mountaineers with a 6:03.69 finish in the 500 free.
Mansfield's final score was 116 points. Geneseo won the meet with 575 points.
In two weeks, the Mounties will travel to York, Pa. to compete at the PSAC Championship Meet from Feb. 19-22. Zdancewicz, Medura, Feudale and Ernst are all set to compete individually.
