Wilson Scores but Mounties Fall at MercyhurstERIE – Senior
Courtney Wilson scored her second goal of the season but it came a little too late in the game as Mansfield dropped a 3-1 decision in a PSAC field hockey contest at Mercyhurst Tuesday.
It looked as if the first half would end in a scoreless tie but Mercyhurst's Dierstyn Sturmer scored off a corner after time had expired to give the Lakers a 1-0 halftime advantage.
Andrea Goldach scored Mercyhurst's second goal off another corner five minutes into the second half and the Lakers added a third goal in the 62nd minute off a penalty stroke by Taylor Balser.
Mansfield got on the board in the 66th minute when
Katie Lipski redirected the ball to Wilson for the goal.
Gabrielle Spatz had a strong showing in her first collegiate start in goal recording nine saves and
Emily Blidy was credited with a defense save.
Julie Cacace also had a shot on goal.
Mansfield closes out the home portion of its schedule when the Mountaineers host West Chester for Senior Day this Saturday starting at noon.
