FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Robinson Wins Mile and 800m to earn Most Valuable Athlete; Norton Victorious in 3,000m

LEWISBURG, Pa. -  Mike Robinson won the Mile and 800m runs on his way to being named Most Valuable Athlete and Lauren Norton won her second title of the weekend in the 3,000m on the final day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Robinson finished first in the mile with a time of 4:12.44, over a second faster than the next athlete to cross the line. The senior had the fastest final lap in the race at 27.22 seconds.

Incredibly, Robinson followed his mile win by winning the 800m run later in the meet with a time of 1:53.54. Robinson again had the fastest final lap with a time of 28.12.

With his two winning performances, Robinson was named PSAC Men's Championship Most Valuable Track Athlete and the Championship's Overall Most Valuable Athlete. It marks the first time a Mansfield athlete has earned the Championship's Overall Most Valuable Athlete honor. It's also the first time a Mountaineer has been named Most Valuable Track Athlete since Chris Cummings in 2008.

Norton climbed to the top of the podium for the second straight day after winning the women's 3,000m run. The senior's time of 10:08.89 was almost four seconds faster than the second place finisher. Younger sister, Casey Norton of Shippensburg took fourth overall in the 3K with a time of 10:16.48.

Norton won the 5,000m run on Saturday.

Freshman Michaela Lambert turned in All-PSAC performances in the 200m and 400m in her first PSAC Championship meet. Lambert finished third overall in the 400m with an NCAA provisional time of 57.53. Shippensburg's Megan Lundy won the event with a 56.45.

In the 200m, Lambert was just .07 seconds away from running away with the title, but finished second with an NCAA provisional time of 25.39. Danielle Smith of East Stroudsburg posted a winning time of 25.32.

Senior Kristy Scordino took third in the mile to earn All-PSAC with a time of 5:04.8. Scordino was just two seconds off the second place time. California's Summer Hill won the event with a time of 4:57.73.

Scordino's time set a new school record in the mile, beating her own sister Jess Scordino. Jess set the previous record of 5:04.94 earlier this season.

The Mountaineer women finished a program-best seventh overall with 40 team points. Slippery Rock was the women's champion finishing with 108 team points. On the men's side, Mansfield matched its highest finish at ninth overall with 21 team points. Shippensburg won its fourth straight title with 211 team points.
