FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Robinson Sets New Mansfield Mile Record at Day Two of Valentine Invitational

BOSTON – Mike Robinson broke an eight year old school record and hit an NCAA provisional time in the men's mile to lead Mansfield on day two of Boston's Valentine Invitational on Saturday.

It was the third Mountaineer record to fall this weekend as Robinson ran a 4:07.41 in the mile to finish 40th overall in a field of over 300 athletes. His time beats out three-time indoor All-American Chris Cummings' time of 4:08.4 set during the 2006 season.

Robinson's mile time is currently the fastest in the PSAC and the fourth best in NCAA Division II. The senior was just .28 seconds away from hitting an NCAA automatic time.

Joelsen Resimo shaved 10 seconds off his mile personal best for a time of 4:20.1. It currently ranks as the third fastest time in the conference.

Benjamin Drexler turned in an 800m time of 2:00.38 with Jacob Portock finishing at 2:02.84 in the event.

Mansfield is back in action at the Ithaca College Invitational on Feb. 15.
