Robinson Sets PSAC Record in Mile with NCAA Automatic Qualifying Time

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Robinson Sets PSAC Record in Mile with NCAA Automatic Qualifying Time

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Mike Robinson set a new Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record in the mile and hit an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 4:06.27 at Grand Valley State's Big Meet on Friday night.

Robinson broke the all-time conference indoor record of 4:06.3 set by Bryan Beegle of Shippensburg in 2012. Robinson, who also set the PSAC 1,000m record early this year, is the first Mountaineer track and field athlete to hold a conference record.

Robinson is currently one of just five athletes in the nation to hit an NCAA automatic time in the men's mile.

The senior finished third overall in a field of over 40 collegiate athletes and was first amongst Division II competitors.

Robinson also broke his own school record of 4:07.41 set last week at Boston's Valentine Invitational. That mark bettered an eight-year-old record of 4:08.4 held by three-time indoor All-American Chris Cummings.

Robinson and Jesse Jones will compete in the 3,000m race tomorrow.
