Mounties Fall to Alfred and William Smith

ALFRED, N.Y. – The Mountaineer swim team put up a valiant effort against Alfred University and William Smith College, but it would prove to not be enough. Mansfield fell to Alfred 71-149 and William Smith 52-168.

Freshmen Amanda Ernst and Noelle Erickson each brought a second place finish for the Mounties. Ernst finished the 100 freestyle in 58.30 seconds and Erickson finished the 500 freestyle in 5:52.37.

Connie Medura added a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.87. The sophomore added a fifth place finish in the 200 IM in 2:30.32.

Abigail Zdancewicz placed third in the 1000 freestyle with a 12:05.07.

In the 100 backstroke, Hilary Feudale finished in third with a 1:06.35. The junior went on to finish fourth in the 50 freestyle with a 27.39.

In the 200 Medley Relay, the team of Feudale, Medura, Ernst and Doni Matrone placed second with a 2:01.06, edging William Smith College by 1.21 seconds.

The Mounties move to 3-4 on the season.

Mansfield is set to travel to Wilkes-Barre to take part in the Diamond City Invitational on Nov. 22. Events are set to begin at 9 a.m.
