Pemberton and Bell Combine for 40 Points in 100-62 Season Opening Win over Penn College
MANSFIELD – Seniors
Charles Pemberton and
Joe Bell combined for 40 points and 15 rebounds to lead Mansfield to a 100-62 season opening win over Penn College Saturday evening in Decker Gymnasium.

Rich Miller. "I thought we got some guys going offensively and were able to get some solid offensive runs. It was good to see
Kenny Johnson get it going offensively. "
Penn College held an early lead, taking a 7-2 advantage in the early minutes and led 21-19 eight minutes into the game.
Mansfield started to dominate the game midway through the first half, using a 19-3 run to take a 48-30 advantage on a 3-pointer by
Thomas Moore with just under five minutes remaining before halftime.
The Mountaineers would extend the lead to 70-40 six minutes into the second half before going on another run to extend the margin to 94-48 on a
Eric Lewis free throw with just under seven minutes remaining.
Mansfield held a 53-34 rebounding margin and recorded 19 steals in the win.
The Mountaineers had four players in double-figures with Pemberton scoing a game-high 21 points and Bell adding 19 points.
Matt Tamanosky and
Kenny Johnson both came off the bench to score 12 points each.
Cass Wisniewski and Thomas Ross topped Penn College (0-1) with 12 and 11 points respectively.
It was the thrd time in the last four years Mansfield has scored 100 points or more in its season opener.
Mansfield opens the PSAC East season at Kutztown Wednesday.
