Mansfield Places First at Four-Team Chatham Invite

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield Places First at Four-Team Chatham Invite
 
PITTSBURGH – The Mansfield swim team turned in a first place finish at the Chatham Invitational by scoring 764 points. Chatham placed second with 679, Juniata placed third with 568, and Franciscan placed fourth with 504 points.
 
Connie Medura led the Mounties with three first place finishes. Medura finished with a career personal best in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:38.30. In the 100 breaststroke, Medura finished with a 1:13.73, edging out Chatham's Elina Lankinen by .20 seconds. The sophomore finished the 50 breaststroke in 33.80 seconds, edging out Chatham's Lankinen by .58 seconds. Medura rounded out the day with a second place finish in the 200 IM with a career best 2:30.40.
 
Amanda Ernst garnered a first place finish in the 100 freestyle with a 58.45, edging out Juniata's Meghan Swavely by .09 seconds. The freshman finished second in the 100 IM with a 1:08.35, edging out Chatham's Anna Wolhaupter by .13 seconds. Ernst rounded out the day with two fourth place finishes. The freshman finished the 50 breaststroke with a 36.03, edging out Chatham's Ashley Foulkrod by 1.51 seconds. In the 50 backstroke, Ernst finished with a 31.90.
 
Abigail Zdancewicz finished first in the 500 freestyle with a 5:47.07. The sophomore finished with two second place finishes in the 200 IM with a 2:32.35 and the 200 backstroke with a 2:33.61. Zdancewicz finished fifth in the 100 butterfly with a career personal best of 1:10.35.
 
Junior transfer Hilary Feudale placed second in the 100 backstroke with 1:08.64 and the 200 backstroke with a 2:28.04. The junior rounded out the day with a third place finish in the 50 backstroke.
 
Alexis Cable placed second in the 50 freestyle with a 26.79. The freshman placed fourth in the 100 freestyle with a 59.73, edging out Chatham's Walhaupter by .12 seconds. Cable rounded out the day with a fourth place finish in the 50 butterfly with a 29.76, edging out Chatham's Alexis Rectenwald by .50 seconds.
 
Noelle Erickson placed second in the 200 butterfly with a 2:46.39. The freshman went on to place fourth in the 500 freestyle with a 5:55.85. Erickson rounded out the day with a fifth place finish, edging out Chatham's Lexi Peace by .16 seconds.
 
Freshman Stefanie Hile added two fifth place finishes for the Mountaineers. Hile finished the 200 backstroke with a 2:39.57. The freshman finished the 100 backstroke in 1:16.91, edging out Franciscan's Katie Oursler by one second.
 
In the relay events, Mansfield finished 3rd and 5th in both the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
 
The Mounties take on Alfred University and William Smith College at Alfred on Nov. 8.
