MANSFIELD – Mansfield field hockey generated several scoring opportunities, but it was IUP who came out on top with a 3-0 PSAC victory Wednesday afternoon at Karl Van Norman Field.

The two teams played even the first 30 minutes before IUP took a 1-0 lead when Sarah Zielinski snuck one past the Mountie keeper and into goal. The goal would stand until halftime.

Through the first half, both teams were tied in total shots with six while Mansfield held a 5-4 shots on goal advantage.

IUP extended its lead just five minutes into the second half when Chelsea Wanamaker picked up a loose ball and placed it into goal. Tia Barndt gave the Hawk's a 3-0 lead with a goal in the 45
th minute.

Kayla Grunza and
Jessi Swingle led the Mansfield attack, each putting a pair of shots on goal. Grunza also made a great defensive save late in the game to prevent an IUP score.

Mountie keeper
Laura Lawson was credited with 10 saves in the game. IUP's Darian Shuker earned the clean sheet making nine saves.
IUP led total shots 17-10 and shots on goal 14-9 in the contest.

Mansfield is back in action on Saturday when it travels to Slippery Rock for a 1 p.m. start.
