Mansfield Women's Soccer Hosts Bloomsburg for Cancer Awareness Night SaturdayMANSFIELD – The Mansfield University Mountaineer women's soccer team will take on PSAC rival Bloomsburg and help in the fight against cancer this Saturday evening under the lights of Karl Van Norman Field.
The Mountaineers will join in the battle against cancer with fund-raising efforts directed to Red Card Cancer and Malia Crushes Cancer.
Red Card Cancer is an international effort by the soccer community to help wipe out the disease with donations going to the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. Malia Crushes Cancer is dedicated to raising awareness for and improving the lives of children with neuroblastoma. Malia Dakota Jesczyk, the daughter of a soccer coach and friend of head coach
Tim Dempsey, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma as 2 ½ year-old in 2011 and after a long and painful treatment including stem cell transplant, surgery and chemo. She is currently declared No Evidence of Disease.
The Mountaineers are coming off a 2-2 tie in double overtime at Lock Haven on Wednesday night. Freshman standout

Casey Reber each scored goals in the outing while senior goalie
Alana Greenawalt recorded three saves.
Bloomsburg is mired in a four-game losing skid after dropping a 2-1 decision to Edinboro on Wednesday. The Huskies are led by goalie Megan Deak who ranks 10
th in the PSAC in goals against average.
The game ends a four-game road-trip for the Mountaineers whose last home game was a 3-1 win over UPJ under the lights at Van Norman on Sept. 24.
Mansfield has never lost a night game at Van Norman Field.
